Local children concerned the ongoing postal strike will prevent their Christmas wishlists from reaching Santa Claus, fear not: Striking Sudbury postal workers have got you covered.
Members of Local 612 of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers in Sudbury have set up a special mailbox on Lasalle Boulevard where children can drop off their letters to St. Nick.
“Your postie elves are ready to use their magic to get all your letters to Santa,” a message from Local 612 sent to Sudbury.com reads.
The special mailbox is located at 1776 Lasalle Blvd on the sidewalk in front of the Canada Post building next to Food Basics. It’s hard to miss, decorated as it is with a Christmas tree, lights and a red mailbox.
Letters can be dropped off between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., seven days a week, until Dec. 19. Each letter should include a return address and a phone number.
“In the event we are unable to deliver to your door, we will need assistance from parents to pick up your letter from Santa,” the postie elves said. “When we receive our special delivery from the North Pole, we will call to arrange for you to come pick up Santa’s response before Christmas.”
The postie elves promise Santa will write back.
